The base metal used to manufacture this item is spelter with the giveaway being the grey areas showing through painted surface - the surface decoration is cold painted in a dark tan colour giving the surface the look of bronze. The top of the opener portray a nicely cast side profile bust of Napoleon wearing his traditional bicorn hat - from the bust the opener tapers down to a blunted end - the reverse side of the item is plain. The opener measures 24.5cm in length and is 4.5cm at its widest point - the total unpacked weight is 185g. The condition of this item is generally good given its age and use - the item would of been used to open letter probably on a weekly basis and the wear to the surface is perfectly normal with this in mind - the head area of the opener has a very minor edge knock, as does the tip, but these are insignificant and only mentioned for the accuracy of the description. Please study the images provided to satisfy yourself as to the condition of the item - if you have any further questions please ask and I'll be happy to oblige.
