Antique French Silver & Mother Of Pearl Letter Opener Gift c1880 Emile Puiforcat

This unusual letter opener/paper knife dates from c1880 and is made of French 950 silver with a Mother of Pearl handle and a blank gold shield cartouche. This would have once been a fruit knife but today makes a wonderful quality letter opener that also looks very nice on show. Cartouche has not been monogrammed so you could easily get this engraved and it comes in a presentation case so w. Ould make a great gift. Hallmarks: Marked with the French Minerva and 1 for. Maker's mark for Emile Puiforcat of Paris. Length: 20 cm (8) approx. Comes complete with a new gift box.

Excellent used antique condition with some signs of use in keeping with age. Some very light surface scratches and a small ding to the end collar.
