A good quality interesting solid sterling silver Royal Navy letter opener. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1936 with the makers marks being NA&AFI for NAAFI (Navy, Army & Air Force Institute). It has been unusually designed being in the form of a rowing oar and has been engraved 1st HEAVING LINE EASTER 1937 most likely made for the Coronation Spithead Review and Regatta Southampton. It is in perfect condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures 8 inches (20.2cms) long by 0.5 inch (1.3cms) wide and weighs 28 grams.
