Antique European Gilt Silver Enameled & Jeweled Letter Opener

Antique European Gilt Silver Enameled & Jeweled Letter Opener. Up for sale is a beautiful European, most likely an Austrian, silver letter opener with glass enamel and semi-precious stones, dated late 19. The opener is in a ceremonial dagger form in scabbard with guilloche and scrolling decorations. The blade is made of either iron or steel which can attract a magnet. The scabbard is embellished with filigree engraved 90% silver which can be detected by. (XRF) and with polychrome enamel. The semi-precious stones include turquoise or malachite color cabochons and totally 24 seed pearls. Measures: 9" long x 2 ½" wide x 1 1/8 deep; Weight, 6.7 oz (189 grams). Condition: Very good and clean, with no loss of any stones, but with minor wear and some loss of enamel as indicated in photo 9.
